What's the best bargain you've ever picked up at a book fair, Deighton or indeed any other author?
This is a blog about the books, film and world of British thriller and spy novel author Len Deighton, writer of The Ipcress File, Funeral in Berlin, SS-GB, Bomber, Berlin Game and many other books. This blog also covers the spy thriller genre and the Cold War more widely. It is a companion website to the main Deighton Dossier archive (link on the right). It is the only website + blog endorsed by the author himself! Content (c) Rob Mallows 2008-22 unless otherwise stated.

If I had the money , I would buy the first editions of the following 2 classics authors:
ReplyDelete1. Emily Bronte: Wuthering Heights
2. Charlotte Bronte: Jane Eyre
3. Jane Austen: Pride and Prejudice and Sense and Sensibility
Interesting how these above 2 Bronte sisters wrote those classics living in the Parsonage in Howarth, and Emily Bronte’s novel setting s in that unfriendly Moor –even today, it looks only slightly different, were the stuff of geniuses. But I could only gaze them through the glasses of the cupboard at Bronte Parsonage! Brontes had to use the pseudonym of men to get them published. The above three women became famous only after their death.
I would also like to collect the first editions of the following novelists, who were trend setters in those days.
1. Edgar Wallace: The Four Just Men and the Three Just Men
2. Leslie Charteris: Enter the Saint and Alias the Saint
Ofcourse, any first editions of IanFleming and Len Deighton novels are collectors' items.
